Lusby resident Juan Antonio Lopez, 22, was listed in serious condition on Wednesday following a crash that was reported in Prince Frederick on Tuesday afternoon.

Deputies were called shortly after 2:30 p.m. on Oct. 15 to the area of Hallowing Point Road (Route 231) and Seagull Beach Road, where there was a reported multi-vehicle crash.

Investigators say that Lopez was stopped in the westbound lane of Route 231 waiting to make a left turn into a private driveway when a 2017 Mack Truck struck the back of his Kia, pushing it into the eastbound lanes.

Lopez was then struck by a Toyota traveling in the opposite direction being driven by a St. Leonard resident.

The drivers of the truck and Toyota were uninjured.

Lopez was rushed to an area trauma center for treatment and evaluation of serious injuries.

According to the preliminary probe, the truck driver's failure to control speed to avoid a collision appears to be the contributing factor in the crash, which remains under investigation.
